Work and leisure have long since become indivisible and are no longer limited to fixed places or times. New demands on work spaces arise due to the fusion of living and working, but also due to increasing demands on mobility or the relocation of major employers out of the cities. Current concepts of work organisation such as decentralisation, open networks, self-organisation and team work are changing the logic of the work place. Temporary parameters and flexible organisational logics seem to be more important for these processes of work and communication than physical order and orientation. The easy accessibility of work places and services is becoming less important as the inherent attraction of a place enters the foreground.
“Work” presents architectures marked by affective labor and effective recreation, new ways to work, as well as concepts of urban space under flexible conditions of labor in postfordism.
