"Fortellerorkesteret" is the translation and continuation of "Concert for Greenland" in the form of an installation: an electromechanical construction of organic driftwood, weathered boards, found objects, brought to life in the shape of images and sounds. With the aid of motors and complicated robotics, the primitive wooden construction becomes an automated, computer-controlled sculpture of material, video, light and shadow.
The development of "Fortellerorkesteret" lasted more than two years, originating from a trip of Verdensteatret to Greenland. After the work on "Concert for Greenland", the artist collective further developed the material to create an electromechanical construction: "Fortellerorkesteret" is an associative story-telling and memory machine, a narrative orchestra that follows the score of a complex computer program while maintaining the appearance of an archaic, poetic legendary world.
